Overview
The head temple of Obaku Zen, with Chinese Ming Dynasty-style architecture creating an exotic atmosphere. Founded by the Chinese monk Ingen who brought Zen across the sea. Fucha ryori (Chinese-style vegetarian cuisine) is a specialty.
Origins
Manpukuji Temple was founded in 1661 (Kanbun 1) by the Chinese Zen monk Ingen Ryuki, who was originally from Fujian Province, China.
