Origins
Kunozan has long been venerated as a site of mountain worship. According to tradition, a hermitage was established here during the reign of Empress Suiko (6th–7th century) by a man named Kuno Tadahito, and it is also said that the general Sakanoue no Tamuramaro later erected a hall on the mountain. …
