Founded in 1313 (Showa 2) by Muso Soseki. A masterpiece of Nanbokucho-period Zen culture, the temple possesses two National Treasure buildings and a Place of Scenic Beauty garden. It was a distinguished temple that received the patronage of the Muromachi shogunate and the Toki clan.
