After Hideyoshi's death in 1598, Nene took Buddhist vows and became known as Kodai-in. In 1606, she built this temple with financial support from Tokugawa Ieyasu, who sought both to repay her kindness and to win over daimyo loyal to the Toyotomi. After Hideyoshi's death, Nene took Buddhist vows as Kodai-in and built this temple in 1606. Since her marriage to Hideyoshi, she had supported the Toyotomi house with her wisdom and devotion. In her later years, she withdrew from politics, spending her days peacefully here while praying for Hideyoshi's soul, until her death at age 76 in 1624.

Regular visiting hours 9:00–17:30 (last admission 17:00). Night illumination periods extended to 17:00–22:00.
Admission
Adults ¥800, junior/senior high ¥400, groups ¥700. Combined ticket with Entoku-in ¥1,200. Free for elementary and under with guardian.
