Origins
807年頃に坂上田村麻呂が創建と伝わる天台宗古刹。元禄2年(1689年)に松尾芭蕉が訪問し「象潟や」の句を詠んだことで全国的に有名となった。1804年の象潟地震で地形が大変動し現在の「陸の象潟」となった。
