Kakurinji in Kakogawa, the 'Horyuji of Harima,' is said to have been built by Prince Shotoku (593–628). It holds two National Treasure structures — the Nara-period Taishi-do and the Muromachi-period main hall — and is the 23rd site of the Saikoku 49 Yakushi Pilgrimage.
Kakurinji Temple is traditionally said to have been founded in 610 CE by Prince Shotoku on Mount Todasan during the reign of Empress Suiko. It is believed to have been constructed in the style of the Shitennoji-style temple complex, serving as a center for the spread of Buddhism in Harima Province. …
