Overview
Iwakuni Castle was built by Kikkawa Hiroie on Mount Yokoyama in 1608. Demolished just seven years later under the One Castle Per Province decree, it was reconstructed in 1962. The view of the castle paired with Kintai Bridge makes it one of Yamaguchi's iconic landscapes, especially famed for cherry blossoms.
Origins
Built by Kikkawa Hiroie on Mount Yokoyama in 1608, the castle was demolished just seven years later under the One Castle Per Province decree. The current keep was reconstructed in 1962, positioned south of the original site for better views from Kintai Bridge, which was built in 1673.
