Iminomiya is an ancient shrine said to be the site of Emperor Chuai's Toyoura Palace in 193. Associated with Empress Jingu's Korean expedition, it is the second shrine of Nagato Province. Its Suhotei Festival is a nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.
According to tradition, Iminomiya Shrine traces its origins to 193 AD, when Emperor Chuai, the 14th emperor, traveled westward to subjugate the Kumaso and established the Toyoura Palace on this site.
