Located at Hinomisaki, Taisha-cho, Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, this lighthouse is the tallest stone-built lighthouse in Japan. The white stone tower, first lit in 1903 (Meiji 36), measures 43.65 meters from ground to top and 63.49 meters from sea level to top, and is registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan.
