A historic park honoring Hatakeyama Shigetada (1164-1205), a key Kamakura shogunate retainer who was ambushed and killed here at Futamatagawa in 1205 by the scheming of Hojo Tokimasa. Revered posthumously as a paragon of upright samurai virtue and called \'the mirror of Bando warriors,\' his bronze statue and memorial pagoda stand in the park, preserving the tragedy of the Kamakura period.
