Mt. Hakodate (334m) overlooks the city with views acclaimed among the "World's Three Great Night Views." Accessible by ropeway, toll road, or hiking trail, its daytime view stretches from Motomachi's churches to Goryokaku and Aomori Bay. A designated National Scenic Site.
