Tsudo Tenmangu in Shinotsuka, Fujioka, enshrines Sugawara no Michizane and is revered by local exam students as a god of learning. Transferred from Kitano Tenmangu in Kyoto during the Edo period according to tradition, it was the guardian deity of terakoya education.
