Daieiji, a Jodo-shu temple said to have been founded around 1580, is regarded as one of the temples invited into the castle town when Akechi Mitsuhide, having pacified Tanba province in 1582, developed Fukuchiyama Castle and its surrounding town. In the Edo period it grew into a center of Pure Land nembutsu devotion for the local community.
