Son of Emperor Montoku, enthroned at age 9 through the maneuvering of his maternal grandfather Yoshifusa. The first child emperor in Japanese history; under him Yoshifusa effectively ruled as regent. Ancestor of the Seiwa Genji line including Minamoto no Tsunemoto.
