Head of the Ōuchi. As mainstay of Yamana Sōzen's Western army in the Ōnin War, he marched on Kyoto and fought there for a decade. After the war he returned to Yamaguchi, building the cultural foundations of the "Western Capital" and patronizing artists such as Sesshū.
