Son of Yasumaro and father of Yakamochi. As Governor-General of Dazaifu in Kyushu he hosted the "Plum Blossom Banquet"; the preface to its poems—"Shoshun no reigetsu, ki yoku kaze yawaragu"—is the source of the era name Reiwa.
