Head of the Iwami Ogasawara, a local warrior house ruling Ochi District in Iwami Province from Nukuyu Castle. Initially allied with the Amago against the Mori, he was besieged at Nukuyu Castle by a large Mori army in 1558 and surrendered the following year through Kobayakawa Takakage's mediation. He thereafter served the Mori, joining their campaigns against the Amago.

Head of a house that had held Iwami for 200 years, he staged a determined defense against an overwhelming Mori army before yielding.

As the last independent head of the Iwami Ogasawara, his surrender of Nukuyu Castle marked the clan's transition to Mori vassalage.
