Second lord of Koromo Domain in Mikawa Province. After the domain's previous seat, low-lying Sakura Castle on the Yahagi River, suffered repeated flood damage, he petitioned the shogunate for permission to relocate. Given approval, he began construction of a new castle on higher ground in 1780 and completed it in 1782. Because the site commanded views over seven provinces including Mikawa, Owari, Mino, and Shinano, it came to be known as Shichishu ("Seven Provinces") Castle.
