Born in 1468, Ito Tadasuke was the 8th head of the Ito clan, based in Hyuga Province. In 1510, when Nagakura Sukemasa and Tarumizu Sukemoto, local administrators of Aya who opposed his handling of clan succession, fortified themselves in Aya Castle in revolt (the Aya Rebellion), Tadasuke moved to suppress them. The siege began in September, and on October 17 both Nagakura and Tarumizu took their own lives. By putting down this revolt, Tadasuke tightened control within the Ito clan and laid the groundwork for its later expansion. He died in 1523.
