Famous Anecdotes
Shugo of Hitachi, Founder of the Oda
For his service from the time of Yoritomo's uprising, Hatta Tomoie was appointed shugo of Hitachi Province and based himself at Oda in southern Hitachi (present-day Oda, Tsukuba, Ibaraki). This was the origin of the Oda clan, which endured as a leading local power of southern Hitachi from its base at Oda Castle into the Sengoku period.
